Mrs Stone's Whale Watchers

From the Mountains to the Sea

Amelie Remembers #11

The soldiers, brave, bold, strong and young,

Some survived the 1st world war,

But most did not,

The red poppies,

The only plants brave enough to grow on the battle field,

The courageous soldiers,

There bravery was outstanding,

Thousands of poppies planted around the tower of England,

In Remembrance of those who died in battle,

It was tough in the trenches,

Rotting bodies, diseases and trench foot,

Scarce rations of food,

As the soldiers layed on the harsh battle fields,

As red as poppies,

They did not know that they were to become heroes.

We will remember them,

Lest we forget.
